As you arrive at Towan Beach, you'll be greeted by a striking view of the rocky island, "The Island", which separates Towan Beach from neighbouring Great Western Beach. Take a deep breath and let the salty sea air fill your lungs as you make your way down to the beach.
Once on the sand, you'll be amazed by the clarity of the water. The turquoise blue hues will take your breath away and beckon you to dive in. Spend some time splashing around in the waves, and if you're feeling brave, try your hand at surfing. This beach is sheltered by Towan Head and provides either small waves, ideal for novice surfers or calm waters for safe swimming.
If you prefer to stay on land, Towan Beach has plenty to offer. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach, or hike up to the top of the cliffs to take in the panoramic views. The surrounding landscape is rugged and wild, with jagged cliffs jutting out into the sea and dramatic rock formations dotting the shoreline. If you're lucky, you might even spot some of the local wildlife. Seals and dolphins are often seen swimming in the waters around Towan Beach, and the surrounding cliffs are home to nesting seabirds such as puffins and razorbills.
There are three caves and a tunnel by the harbour wall waiting to be discovered. At low tide, the beach connects with neighbouring Great Western and Tolcarne to create a vast and uninterrupted expanse of golden sand, leaving a lasting impression on any visitor.
