Nearby Towns

Nestled just over half a mile from Padstow's bustling harbour lies the serene and sandy St George's Cove. Named after the ancient holy well/spring located in the lush vegetation that surrounds the beach, this inlet offers stunning views across the Camel Estuary to the sands of rock beach and Daymer Bay.

At low tide, the sands stretch all the way from St Saviour's Point to the ruins at Gun Point, allowing visitors to walk along the sand to Harbour Cove and Hawkers Cove beyond. However, as the tide comes in, the small cove is flanked by low cliffs and can feel a little crowded on busier days.

While the cove is very sheltered from the wind and ocean swells due to its east-facing position, swimming is not advised due to the strong currents in this part of the estuary, and there is no lifeguard cover available. But for those seeking a peaceful and scenic escape, St George's Cove offers a tranquil haven just a stone's throw from the bustling town of Padstow.

Parking

If you're planning a visit to St George's Cove beach, be prepared to take a scenic stroll to get there. With no car park in close proximity, visitors have two options for parking their vehicles.

One option is to park at Padstow Harbour car park and walk north along the coast path. The other option is to park at the Harbour Cove car park located to the north of St George's Cove at Lellizzick. Both options involve approximately a one-mile walk along a relatively level grassy coastal path, offering breathtaking views of the stunning Cornish coastline along the way.
