Among Tenby's incredible beaches, lies the remarkable Castle Beach. This sandy haven is situated on the south side of the town, nestled between East Cliff and Castle Hill, offering a perfect destination for family days out.
Despite its splendor, Castle Beach may prove elusive to newcomers, as the bay is entirely enveloped by the water at high tide. However, when the tide recedes, the sands merge with Tenby South Beach, creating an incredible expanse that spans nearly two miles long.
At low tide, the beach connects to St Catherine's Island, which can be accessed on foot. This historic fortification is perched atop a steep flight of stairs, offering panoramic views of the beach, town, and surrounding coastline. It's no surprise that this very fortress was selected as a filming location for the BBC's acclaimed series Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Additionally, the waters south of St Catherine's Island are shallow, making it an excellent spot for swimming.
With its remarkable views and wealth of activities, Castle Beach Tenby is undoubtedly a destination not to be missed on any visit to the Pembrokeshire Coast.
