This fantastic beach is part of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has also received honours from the Marine Conservation Society and the coveted Blue Flag. Bantham is shallow and sandy, making it ideal for families with children who wish to go swimming or paddling, and lifeguards are on duty from May to September to put parents' minds at ease. At low tide, there are numerous rockpools that warm up fast in the sun and are ideal for crab hunting.

Surfing conditions at Bantham Beach are ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers, with consistent waves throughout the year. The Bantham Surfing Academy offers surfing lessons and hires equipment, and there are also opportunities to kayak and stand-up paddleboard.

Bantham Beach is also home to Burgh Island, a small island that is accessible by foot or the iconic sea tractor at low tide. The island has a rich history and is home to the iconic Burgh Island Hotel, which has been visited by many famous guests over the years, including Agatha Christie.
